The Federal Laender in Germany have implemented support measures for endangered breeds. An overviews of the specific support measures of the Federal States can be found here.
Payments for the breeding of endangered livestock breeds are granted under the Second Pillar of the EU Common Agricultural Policy (Article 28 Regulation (EC) No. 1305/2013, EAFRD).
In Germany, too, endangered livestock breeds are supported on the basis of the EAFRD Regulation. This is done as Länder measures or as a joint funding measure of the Federal Government and the Länder on the basis of the Joint Task for the Improvement of Agricultural Structure and Coastal Protection (GAK). These funding measures can also be co-financed with EU funds.
BMEL and BLE also fund projects for the conservation and sustainable use of native livestock breeds from various funding programs.
