Which federal states promote which livestock breeds? You will find a complete overview in the menu item "List of support measures".
Under EU law, the breeding of endangered indigenous livestock breeds can be supported. Payments are mostly granted under the Second Pillar of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy.
In Germany, endangered livestock breeds are supported primarily on the basis of Article 28 of Regulation (EC) No. 1305/2013. This takes place as measures of the federal states or as a joint funding measure of the federal government and the federal states on the basis of the Joint Task for the Improvement of Agricultural Structure and Coastal Protection (GAK). These funding measures can also be co-financed with EU funds.
BMEL and BLE also fund projects for the conservation and sustainable use of native livestock breeds from various funding programs.
